5 Home Improvements for Spring
February 27, 2024
Spring is just around the corner and with the recent warm weather, most Minnesotans are ready to start spring cleaning and spring projects early. To get you started, we have compiled a list of 5 of the most popular home improvements to add to help you enjoy the spring and summer.
- Front Yard Patio - A fairly recent trend is adding another living area to your home by adding a front yard sitting area. Make an oasis out of your current porch or ask a landscaper to help you with a paver patio in your front yard surrounded with landscaping. Add some comfy outdoor furniture, a few strings of cafe lights and you not only have a brand new outdoor room to enjoy but have added an instant boost to your curb appeal as well.
- Deck - The perfect spot for grilling, overlooking the backyard lawn games and extending the dining room from the indoors out, a deck adds so much enjoyment to your home during the warm months and on into fall as well. The great thing about decks is that they work for any budget-they can be large or small, wood or composite material, and can even extend to a second deck layer.
- Fire Pit - Perhaps the simplest & least expensive exterior improvement to make is the addition of a fire pit. You can purchase a premade fire pit or build one yourself for less than a couple hundred dollars. It can be simple or extravagant-add some tree stumps or Adirondack chairs and in less than a weekend, you can be roasting s’mores and hosting parties.
- Epoxy Garage Floor - An epoxy garage floor is a wonderful addition that is starting to gain more steam as a popular home improvement. Beautiful and easy to care for, the flooring alone adds a huge extra “room” to your home. Add some shelving and paint to really make the room sing and of course no finished garage is complete until you hang a huge flat screen tv to host March Madness from.
- Finished Basement - This one speaks for itself! It not only adds the most equity to your home but it also opens a world of possibilities for your everyday living. Most basements have enough space to add a bedroom, bathroom and family room so it can be transformed to a private guest suite, a family movie night theater, and much more. If financing allows, add a wet bar/kitchen area-you won’t regret it and it’s the perfect addition for parties of all sizes for years to come.
