The Cottage Grove Strawberry Fest is a four-day, family focused event that draws thousands of residents together annually to enjoy wonderful food, fantastic bands, a carnival and much, much more! Normally held at Kingston Park in the second week of June, families and friends come to the event to be part of the community while they relax and enjoy the kickoff to summer.
A parade occurs the Saturday of the festival, in which many organizations or businesses can have a float, throw out candy, and advertise their organization. After the parade, there are booths of organizations or businesses that advertise in the soccer fields of Kingston Park. They hand out free things and talk to the residents of Cottage Grove about their businesses. Saturday night, there are many carnival games, rides, and food, even fireworks which occur around 10 pm. Every night of the festival, excluding Sunday night, many types of bands play in the Kingston parking lot. Alcohol is allowed but only in a designated area.
Cottage Grove is home to Ravine Regional Park, with the entrance off Keats Ave S. the park has 518 acres of woods, hills and prairie fields, creating a unique habitat for various species.
Cottage Grove has an 18-hole disc golf course in Oakwood Park that is fun for the whole family. This is a different way to enjoy the outdoors and show off your athletic ability.
River Oaks Golf Course and Event Center is a gem of an 18-hole golf course located just off Hwy 61 on Cottage Grove's southern border. Players of every skill level will have the opportunity to enjoy the game of golf with great views, delicious food, a driving range along with year-round special events. The event center is available to rent for weddings, sports banquets, birthdays, rehearsal dinners, bridal showers, corporate events, holiday parties and more. There are also special events offered to the public such as Friendsgiving, Dueling Pianos, Breakfast with Santa, and craft fairs.
